In the bible, we first always hear about
God's definition of love.
Marriage is important too and should be valued because God when God created Adam and Eve, he thought that man should never be alone. Marriage is a wonderful way to officially celebrate in public that you are starting a life together leaving your parents to join together making a new family.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."19 So the LORD God formed from the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the sky. He brought them to the man* to see what he would call them, and the man chose a name for each one.20 He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the LORD God took out one of the man's ribs* and closed up the opening.22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.
23 "At last!" the man exclaimed.
"This one is bone from my bone,
and flesh from my flesh!
She will be called 'woman,'
because she was taken from 'man.'"
24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. 25 Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.
Genesis 2:18-25
(Story of Adam and Eve)
God also wants us to love one another. Even though vows are exchanged at weddings, couples normally end up going through struggles through their life trying to agree/accept issues and conflicts they'll come across. Sometimes one or the other may have too much pride, or maybe they're both stubborn. Sometimes dealing with problems can lead to frustration or irritation with one another. But we should always remember to be more like Christ. Some examples of traits to keep is said in Colossians 3:12-15
12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.13 Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15
